Pour ma deuxième semaine de vacances 2006 consacrées à la pêche, j’ai choisi le site privé du Domaine de Lancosme pour trois raisons : sa beauté sauvage et ses postes très vastes qui m’avait été vantés par des carpistes rencontrés en mai, les sanitaires à disposition (condition de mon épouse qui m’accompagnait).
Les deux activités principales de ce domaine de 4 000 ha sont l’exploitation forestière avec l’élevage de cerfs et sangliers, et la chasse. Il propose aussi des chambres d’hôtes. Deux étangs y sont ouverts à la pêche à la carpe du 1er avril au 1er novembre : l’étang de La Fosse-Noire (50 ha, 8 postes) et l’étang de Château Robert (3 ha, 1 poste). Le prix pour 4 cannes est de 110 € la semaine.
Lors de ma réservation pour la semaine du dimanche 6 août au dimanche 13 août, le responsable du site me propose 2 postes libres : un sur La Fosse-Noire, et celui du Château Robert. Il me précise que la profondeur de ce dernier est d’environ 1 m pour une grande partie. Le poste restant sur le grand étang m’ayant été antérieurement déconseillé, je choisis le « petit étang ».
L’équipement
Sur un domaine si grand, nos VTT m’ont semblé indispensables pour parcourir les distances jusqu’aux sanitaires ou faire quelques promenades.
La pêche avec un bateau y étant autorisée, le Kangoo utilitaire n’allait pas suffire pas pour emporter ma barque, le moteur, les vélos, etc. ; c’est donc en petit camion que j’y suis allé !
Une fois sur place, je découvre que le domaine propose des barques en location (5 €/jour) et met à disposition des vélos, ainsi que congélateur, frigo et même le gilet de sauvetage. Mince…
Le poste
Arrivé à l’accueil du domaine, l’étang du Château Robert que j’aperçois plus bas me semble très petit et peu arboré. Vu de loin, cela ne me tente pas trop, aussi je demande à notre hôte s’il est éventuellement possible de changer de poste au cas où celui-ci ne me conviendrait pas. Ayant eu un désistement sur le poste 5, il me le propose jusqu’au samedi 13 h.
Avant de changer, je décide d’aller voir de plus près le petit étang. Celui-ci me plait tout de suite : il est situé à l’orée d’un bois, avec une longue presqu’île.
J’y vois plein de possibilités de pêche. Il y a beaucoup de place et plusieurs choix possibles pour s’installer. Je divise mon bivouac en deux : le biwy pour la nuit au bout de la presqu’île, et « la cantine » sous une grand chêne à l’autre bout, pour être à l’ombre la journée. La distance entre les deux est d’environ 50 m, cela promet de belles courses pour les départs de jour !

Certains soirs, dans le pré juste en face, on peut voir des biches lécher un pain de sel accroché à un poteau de bois, ou encore très tôt le matin, à l’autre bout de l’étang, des cerfs s’abreuver.
L’étang
Il est en forme de haricot, avec la presqu’île formant 2 anses, un moine, un vieux ponton sur la rive d’en face. Il mesure au plus large environ 160 m et au plus long environ 300 m. Sa profondeur avoisine les 1,50 m le long de la digue et atteint 1,70 m près du moine. Lorsqu’on s’en éloigne elle diminue rapidement entre 0,60 m et 0,80 m, et ne dépasse pas 0,50 m dans la queue de l’étang.

Les fonds sont principalement argileux, envasés et plutôt pauvres en nourriture naturelle. J’y trouve aussi du sable et des graviers en bordure de berge, sur une surface plus ou moins large, ou en pleine eau sous forme de petites tâches isolées.
Le cheptel « carpes » est constitué de miroirs majoritairement, de communes, de quelques amours blancs et Koï. Les miroirs et les communes sont de souche du domaine.
« Que du bonheur ! »
J’effectue un sondage minutieux en barque, à l’aide de mon échosondeur, d’un plomb au bout d’un fil de nylon et de l’extrémité d’une rame pour définir l’étendue des spots trouvés. Le bateau à moteur m’a permis de sonder l’étang de façon plus large et plus rapide et, sans nul doute, de réaliser une pêche différente de celle que j’aurais faite sans lui. Je choisis mes spots sur les tâches de sables et graviers qui, à mon avis, devraient faire la différence sur ce type de fonds. Ce choix va s’avérer payant.
Une 13,5 kg bien ronde !
J’essaie deux types d’amorçage : lourd au moine, et en assiette pour les autres spots. Le second étant le plus productif, j’abandonne rapidement le premier. Il est composé de bouillettes squid/octopussy, de bouillettes pruneau/foie de porc, de granulés à cochons 100 % céréales et de graines cuites (maïs, blé, chènevis et millet).
Dans un premier temps je pêche avec des esches différentes : noix tigrée, bouillettes, pellets. La bouillette carnée donne plus de résultats. Je dépose en barque les montages et amorçages sur les spots qui ne sont pas à ma portée de cannes.
La plus grosse de la session : 14,5 kg !
Les 4 premiers jours, la pêche est très diversifiée : 1 esturgeon, 11 carpes au-dessous de 7 kg et 12 au-dessus (la plus grosse étant de 14,5 kg), essentiellement des miroirs et quelques communes.
Je décroche de beaux poissons au début, à cause de la fragilité de leur bouche. Celles-ci sont très molles, cela est probablement dû au substrat argileux de l’étang. Je remarque que beaucoup de carpes sont vierges de piqûres d’hameçons. Afin de limiter les décrochages, je dois modérer les « bridages ». Cette obligation ajoutée à la combativité des carpes (surprenante dans cette profondeur), rend les combats très intéressants. Encore plus surprenant : autant de départs de jour que de nuit !

La beauté du site impose une promenade en vélo. Nous partons sur des chemins forestiers à la découverte du grand étang. Celui-ci présente une découpe peu commune avec des presqu’îles, criques, îles ou îlots. On peut y voir des rosières.

Nous nous arrêtons à chacun des 8 postes : un est en plein bois, un autre est sur une île. Le moine est étonnant par sa grande taille !
On peut observer ses fonds, poste par poste, grâce à des photos panoramiques affichées dans le hall des sanitaires. L’étang est vidé tous les ans et les carpes gardées sont quantifiées et sélectionnées. Les miroirs et les communes sont de souche.
Nous croisons des promeneurs en quête de beaux clichés.

« Les petites attaquent ! »
Le 5ème jour le vent change… et la pêche aussi !
Jusque là, très léger et orienté plutôt nord-est, le vent se renforce et passe au sud, ramenant avec lui les petites carpes qui stationnaient dans la queue de l’étang.
Commencent les départs à la chaîne ! Sur les 3 derniers jours : 2 esturgeons, 1 tanche, 3 carpes au-dessus de 7 kg et… 29 carpes au-dessous ! (Avec une moyenne de 4,5 kg). Je cherche où sont partis les gros poissons, mais les petites carpes ont faim et sont sur tous mes spots, pourtant très éloignés les uns des autres. Jusqu’à 4 départs quasiment simultanés ! Je tombe en panne de piles sur 2 détecteurs, la centrale et le peson ! Je suis obligé d’aller au village me réapprovisionner.
Je n’amorce plus, j’arrête la bouillette en présentation classique car même avec des doubles 24 ou de la 35 je prends des moins de 4 kg. J’essaie de les présenter en collier de 3 ou 4, et même d’escher 3 glands, résultat : moins de prises et plus de tirettes.
Une 3,5 kg qui voulait manger 3 glands !
En plus beaucoup de décroches : le fort courant, en remuant les fonds, a fait ressortir des racines dans lesquelles les poissons vont se réfugier systématiquement. La dernière nuit, lassé des « bip !...bip ! » et des petits poissons, je ne rejette plus mes cannes après les prises.
Avant notre départ, notre hôte me demande mes résultats, et il est surpris qu’il y ait encore autant de petites carpes car il en a retiré beaucoup il y a plusieurs mois. Il envisage donc de vider l’étang cet hiver.

Certains diront que pêcher tout seul dans un étang de 3 ha c’est plus facile ! J’en conviens. Mais c’est aussi une grande liberté d’action, alors pourquoi se refuser ce plaisir ?
J’ai vécu une pêche intéressante et variée. Un petit regret : ne pas avoir sorti une carpe Koï. Je garde le souvenir d’une semaine empreinte de liberté, de beaucoup d’espace, d’harmonie avec la nature, et de tranquillité absolue.
Toutes ces sensations réunies classent à mon avis ce site « à part ».
